Here in California according to the media we are still experiencing a water shortage.  After prayer last week and speaking to the clouds and rocks, God sent us a reminder “shower” that He is still hearing us, but we need a lot more water how ever it comes.

In the Bible, The Children of Israel at times had a water shortage. You might enjoy these short words by Rod Parsley

Dig a Ditch

And the prophet said, thus says the Lord, Make this valley full of ditches. For thus says the Lord, Ye shall not see wind, neither shall ye see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, that ye may drink, both ye, and your cattle, and your beasts. —2 Kings 3:16-17

The armies of Israel were dying of thirst when they received the prophet's words. God instructed them, through His prophet, to do something first in the natural:

Dig a ditch! It's too late to dig a ditch after the rains come. Get prepared. Stay ready. Be armed.

When God says to act, don't delay. Do exactly what He commands.

The man with the withered arm wasn't healed until he stretched forth his arm. Farmers don't expect a harvest until they sow seed. God will not send your increase until you have prepared to receive it. What will you do today to prepare to receive what God has for you?

God has something He wants to give you—so prepare for increase. If you want to make room for Him in your life, you have to dig a ditch.

Jesus, I want to receive all you have for me.
I am digging a ditch, preparing a place for all You have for me.
I am ready, Lord.
 Send Your living water. Amen.

FAITH IN THE BLOOD

Romans 3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.

Have faith in God, but also have faith in what He has done. Calvary was proof of God's righteousness, not only for your yesterday, but also for your today and your tomorrow.

God never said because you believe in Jesus you are automatically declared righteous. He gave us the basis for forgiveness of sin and the basis on which He could declare sinners to become righteous - - faith in the shed blood of Jesus.

Jesus is the foundation on which our faith stands. His sinless blood blotted out your sins forever; but for that blood to be effective in your life, you must have faith to believe.

Faith in the atoning blood of Jesus means protection and provision in our daily walk. Plead the blood of Jesus over your mind, your body, your work, and your walk with Him. Apply the blood to the doorposts of your life, your family, your church, your work, and your friends.

Lord Jesus, thank You for shedding Your blood to atone for my sins.
I apply the blood to every relationship in my life for
Your protecting, cleansing, healing, and saving power.  Amen.

The Power of the Holy Spirit
Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit. —Luke 4:14

This is a very interesting verse because it shows us that it was the Holy Spirit that enabled Jesus to do all that He did.

Similarly Luke 5:17 says, "One day as he was teaching, the Pharisees and teachers of the law ... were sitting there. And the power of the Lord was present for him to heal them." It was the power of the Holy Spirit that enabled Him. This is a hint to all of us.
Our difficulty is that we want to hold on to our own gift. I have observed time and again some very talented people not being used because they wanted the praise of men. I have noticed ministers who had a marvelous gift but who were so afraid that it would not be recognized that their pride destroyed them. It could happen to any of us.
But with Jesus, He actually said, "The Son can do nothing by Himself." That meant that the Holy Spirit vindicated Jesus. Do you want the Holy Spirit to use you? Then let the Spirit do it.
Jesus received His joy from the Holy Spirit. This is the reason He was able to handle rejection. This is why He could cope with the way people talked about Him. He did not take it personally; He knew it was their problem, because His joy was from the Spirit. Finally, on the Day of Pentecost, when the Spirit came down, Jesus was vindicated again.
This could happen because the essential function of the work of the Spirit is to point men to Christ. Therefore, after Peter said, "God has made this Jesus ... both Lord and Christ," great conviction swept over the crowd and they began to cry, "What shall we do?" Three thousand were converted, and all because of the Spirit's power.

LIVING FOR THE LINE

When we live with eternity in view, even washing dishes and repairing carburetors become an investment in God’s plan. The people who change lives are the ones who point us away from the world’s short-term perspective to God’s long -term perspective.

Life on earth is a Dot a brief window of opportunity; life in Heaven (and ultimately on the New Earth) is a LINE going out from that dot for eternity.

If we’re smart, we’ll live not for the dot, but for the line. When we view our short today in light of eternity’s long tomorrow (to use A.W. Tozer’s expression), even the little choices we make become tremendously important.

After death we will never have another chance to share Christ with one who can be saved, to give a cup of water to the thirsty, to serve our church. No wonder Scripture commands us, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things” (Colossians 3: 2, NIV).

“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God” (Colossians 3: 1).
