EAT WELL AND LIVE -

Eat, Chew and Digest God's Word

"Your words were found, and I ate them, and Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; for I am called by Your name…." Jeremiah 15:16, NKJV

Living on the go? Eating strange meals at weird hours? Visiting the fast food joint a little too often? We all have seasons that seem to get us out of our desired routines and healthy habits.  I think we’ve all had the nights, where we work late and eat the "dinner of champions"— a piece of cheese, a box of raisins, a V-8 and a giant cappuccino. Anyone else?

But these little snack-like dinners remind me of how things can be spiritually at times. We get so busy doing things, even worthy things, that we forget to eat the Word!   We snack on a verse here and a verse there, but we get busy and end up treating God's Word like a fast-food operation. I know I have been guilty. On crazy days, we pull up to "the Lord's drive-up window" and ask Him to super-size a verse for us and off we go to our busy lives.

Thankfully, God is merciful and gracious and at times, He does accommodate us in this way. But, we all know for the long-haul, this is no way to eat!

We need a healthy, regular diet of God's Word…loaded with all the spiritual vitamins, nutrients and energy we can get for life and godliness. Today, I hope we are all encouraged and reminded to set aside the time we need to spend with the Lord—eating His Word.

Prayer: "Father, I thank You that Your Word is my bread, honey and milk and contains all the nutritional value I need to operate in life. Help me to manage my time in such a way that I sit down with You to eat regular, healthy meals from Your Word! In Jesus’ Name, Amen."

"How To Position Yourself for Miracles"

Pastor Bill Johnson, Redding, CA
(Bethel church, Redding, California - Where Miracles occur.)

When the Holy Spirit equips you, it's so you can do the impossible.

Many times throughout the Bible, the Lord spoke to His servants saying He would be with them. Sometimes He even described it this way: "The Spirit of the Lord came upon them." I once made a list of every such encounter recorded in Scripture. I found an interesting truth: Whenever the Lord said He would be with someone, it meant he had just given them an impossible assignment.

God gave such a promise to Moses. It was connected to his assignment to lead Israel out of Egypt and out of the cruel control of Pharaoh into the Promised Land. A similar word was given to Joshua, the one who took over when Moses was not allowed into the Promised Land. Joshua was assigned to lead them into their inheritance, in spite of giants and other fearful enemies. The same promise was given to Gideon, who was then to deliver a weak and humiliated Israel from the powerfully oppressive hand of the Midianites. And again the same was given to the 11 remaining disciples in the Great Commission in Matthew 28. It was tied to their assignment to disciple nations. The implications of the promised presence are staggering.
God's presence requires something from us—
the invasion into the impossible.

Something is always expected from us when God is revealed to be with us. It is a grave mistake to think the Holy Spirit is among us simply to comfort or encourage. That is a given. He is also present to make possible the impossible task in front of us! Perhaps this is part of what the apostle Paul wanted us to see when he asked God to show us the hope of our calling (see Ephesians 1:18–19).

"For God Was With Him"

One of my favorite verses, one that has had the most impact on me, has to do with Jesus, the eternal Son of God:

"You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him." Acts 10:38

God Is on Your Side by R.T. Kendall

God Has Your Back !!

If the Lord had not been on our side when men attacked us ... they would have swallowed us alive .... Praise be to the Lord, who has not let us be torn by their teeth. —Psalm 124:2-3, 6

Do you know what it is like to have somebody physically attack you? The trauma is one that, humanly speaking, you don't overcome easily. Or perhaps you have been verbally attacked. You know the awful feeling when somebody points a finger of blame at you.

The Lord's people in this Psalm were the objects of anger. It is very frightening to be near someone who is angry. Perhaps you live in constant fear of a co-worker's temper or the angry outbursts of a loved one. You know how it feels to live in a situation from which you wish you could be delivered.

The truth is, your real enemy is the devil. The devil's work is to cloud your mind.

He can come as an angel of light; that means that he will work through someone who has the appearance of being very righteous, a person of integrity, a person who is believable. Or he may come as a roaring lion.

But we learn from verse 6 that God can step into the situation: "Praise be to the Lord, who has not let us be torn by their teeth."

Maybe you're saying, "I don't think God is on my side." Remember this: God is on the side of anybody who will openly identify with His Son, Jesus Christ. God has promised that everything that happens in the lives of believers will work together for their good.

You will know what it is like for the Lord to rescue you. Maybe you don't see God in it at the time, but that is the only real explanation. God mercifully stepped in.

Enjoy these words by Rod Parsley
Grow in God

My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you. —Galatians 4:19

Most Christians do not progress beyond their first experience with God: salvation. They are justified but not sanctified. They are baptized by water but not by His Spirit.

If God intended our relationship with Him to stop at salvation, then we'd get saved and He would immediately take us to heaven.

God's intent was for us to get saved, to be conformed to the image of His Beloved Son, and to become mature Christians walking in the Spirit.

Paul said that he travailed in the Spirit until Christ be truly formed in the believers he led to the Lord.

Have you had your desire for the things of God renewed lately?

Search yourself and ask some hard questions: Is my relationship with God the same as it was when I first got saved? Do I know Him better? Am I walking closer to Him? Have I received fresh revelation from His Word?

Set your sights higher in God. Don't allow yourself to become satisfied with where you are. Launch out into the deep. Be sanctified, set apart, and made holy by the Spirit of God. Go deeper than you ever imagined yourself going with God.

Jesus, I want to grow deeper in my relationship with you.
Show me what I need to release in order to grow closer to You.
Baptize me with Your Spirit and Holy fire.  Amen.
